Curriculum Subcommittee

The following members were present: Susan Lopes, Chairperson, Dana Cutter, Vice-Chairperson, David Barsalou, Michael Pise and Mary Beth Costello.

Also present were James Devine, Sarah Hoar, Sandra Peret, Lisa Bienvenue, and Mary Kate Costello.

Call to Order

The meeting was called to order by Mr. Devine, Assistant Superintendent for Instruction and Accountability , at 7:00 PM.

1.         Election of Officers

Mr. Devine called for nominations for Chairperson of the Curriculum Subcommittee.  Mr. Pise nominated Mrs. Lopes, Mr. Cutter seconded the nomination.  There were no further nominations.

Mr. Devine congratulated Mrs. Lopes on being elected Chairperson of the Curriculum Subcommittee.

Mrs. Lopes called for nominations for Vice-Chairperson of the Curriculum Subcommittee. 

Mr. Pise nominated Mr. Cutter.  There were no further nominations.

Mrs. Lopes congratulated Mr. Cutter on being elected Vice-Chairperson of the Curriculum Subcommittee.

2.         Integrating Arts Into the Curriculum

VOTED: On motion by Mr. Pise to delete Integrating Arts Into the Curriculum from the Curriculum Subcommittee and a report on the number of students in the high school  bands and elementary music program be presented with the numbers in the middle school bands also provided to the Subcommittee in June.

Hand vote – 5 present in favor and the motion PASSED.

3.         Smaller Learning Communities – Responses to Inquiries Report

VOTED: On motion by Mr. Pise to delete the Smaller Learning Communities – Responses to Inquiries Report from the Curriculum Subcommittee.

Hand vote – 5 present in favor and the motion PASSED.

VOTED:  On motion by Mr. Cutter to adjourn at 8:00 PM.
