Superintendent’s Briefing:
The Superintendent’s briefing convened at 6:30 PM. Mr. Rege, Superintendent of Schools, reviewed the evening’s agenda.
Call To Order:
The meeting was called to order by Mrs. Wojcik, Vice-chairperson, at 7:00 PM and opened with the Pledge of Allegiance.
Moment of Silence:
A moment of silence was observed for those who serve in the military and for others who help to protect us.

Dawn Wilhelm addressed the committee regarding transportation and Lisa Bienvenue spoke about MCAS and curriculum.

Janet Reid, District-wide Early Childhood Principal, and Neva Frumpkin, Special Education Supervisor
Janet Reid addressed the Committee regarding the new preschool classroom at Chicopee High School and Neva Frumpkin spoke regarding speech therapy services at Szetela Early Childhood Center.
Reuse of the “old Chicopee High School” and Ripple Effect Redistricting
Mr. Rege gave a brief PowerPoint presentation on the reuse of the “old CHS” and ripple effect redistricting.

Voted: On motion by Mr. Lamothe to set up a meeting with the Education Subcommittee of the Board of Alderman at a future date to make a presentation on the school capitol plan, sharing priority one and two differences.

Shriners Hospitals and the FBI Have Created a DVD called “Fit for the Future” Article
Voted: On motion by Mr. Cutter to forward the Shriners Hospitals and the FBI Have Created a DVD called “Fit for the Future” article to James Devine, Assistant Superintendent, and the Wellness Committee.

Voting Delegate, MASC/MASS Joint Conference
Voted: On motion by Mrs. Lecca to nominate Sharon Nawrocki as the voting delegate at the MASC/MASS Joint Conference, November 2006.

Sidewalks on New Ludlow Road
Voted: On motion by Mrs. Costello to forward a letter to the Board of Alderman requesting sidewalks on New Ludlow Road during reconstruction and to consider sidewalks on any other reconstruction street projects.

New Business:
Referral to Safety Committee
Voted: On motion by Mrs. Nawrocki to refer to the Safety Committee a study of all school signals, crosswalks, flashing school zone signals and signage of all schools.
