Regular Meeting of the School Committee

The following members were present:  Dana Cutter, David Barsalou, Marjorie Wojcik, Michael Pise, Deborah Styckiewicz, Donald Lamothe, Sharon Nawrocki (7:27 PM), Mary Beth Costello and Chester Szetela.

 

Absent were Mayor Michael Bissonnette, Susan Lopes and Susan Lecca.

 

Also present were:  Richard W. Rege, Jr., Stephen Nembirkow, Deborah Drugan, Debra Schneeweis, Alvin W. Morton, I,  Sarah Hoar, Debbie Aickelin, Claire Thompson, Esq., Jeannine Lamontagne and Jeanette DeForge (The Republican).

 

Superintendent’s Briefing:

The Superintendent’s briefing convened at 6:30 PM.  Mr. Rege, Superintendent of Schools, reviewed the evening’s agenda.

 

Call To Order:

The meeting was called to order by Mrs. Wojcik, Vice-chairperson, at 7:00 PM and opened with the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

Moment of Silence:

A moment of silence was observed for those who serve in the military and for others who help to protect us.

Lisa Barden gave a brief PowerPoint presentation on School Spring and answered the Committee’s questions.

Voted:  On motion by Mr. Barsalou to approve the minutes of the Regular Meeting of the School Committee held on September 5, 2007.

Voted:  On motion by Mr. Lamothe to authorize any School Committee member who would like to attend the Annual MASS/MASC Joint Meeting to do so.

Crossing Guard Letter to Board of Alderman

Voted:  On motion by Mrs. Costello to forward the letter from Superintendent Rege to Jeannine Lamontagne to the Mayor and Board of Alderman to recognize the outstanding work by Ms. Lamontagne, Crossing Guard.

Graduation Statistics

Voted:  On motion by Mr. Pise to refer class of 2007 Graduation Statistics to the Curriculum Subcommittee.

Policy Waiver

A motion was made by Mr. Lamothe to waive the School Committee Meetings policy (File: B13) so that the Salary Task Force scheduled for tomorrow, September 20, 2007 may begin at 6:30 PM.
