The following members were present: Susan Lecca, Chairperson, Mary Beth Costello, Vice-Chairperson, David Barsalou, Sharon Nawrocki and Marjorie Wojcik

Also present were Michael Pise, Richard W. Rege, Jr., Deborah Drugan, Atty. Rebecca Bouchard and Sarah Hoar.

Call to Order

The meeting was called to order by Mrs. Lecca, Chairperson, at 7:06 PM.

1.         Approval of Minutes

VOTED: On motion by Mrs. Costello to approve the minutes of the Policy and Human Resources Subcommittee held on October 24, 2007.

Hand vote – 5 present in favor and the motion PASSED.

2.         Report of the Materials Selection Committee: The Wicked Heart by Christopher Pike

VOTED:  On motion by Mrs. Costello to discuss the Report of the Materials Selection Committee: The Wicked Heart by Christopher Pike.

Hand vote – 5 present in favor and the motion PASSED.

*Mrs. Lecca relinquished the chair to Mrs. Costello to participate in the debate.

VOTED:  On motion by Mrs. Lecca to recommend to the full Committee upholding the recommendation of the Materials Selection Committee to keep The Wicked Heart by Christopher Pike on library shelves.

Hand vote – 4 present in favor – 1 opposed and the motion PASSED.

*Mrs. Nawrocki was opposed.

VOTED:  On motion by Mrs. Lecca to recommend to the full Committee purchasing Destiny from Follett Software Company for both middle schools to aid Librarians in selecting quality materials, funding from the Prior Year account.

Hand vote – 5 present in favor and the motion PASSED.

3.         Section I: Instruction

The Subcommittee discussed Section I: Instruction of the Policy Manual.

*Mrs. Lecca left at 8:30 PM.
